| Great Lengths' method
is unique: no other system treats your hair in such
a gentle way because Great Lengths has put an end to
gluing, knotting and welding. The modulation technique
is a revolutionary system; an extremely durable yet
gentle bonding attaches Great Lengths hair to your own
hair
Process:
- You will be seen by one of our stylists who will
assess the texture, colour(s) and type of your hair.
During the consultation period you have the chance
to ask any questions about the process and care of
your hair. Should you decide to proceed we will then
purchase the hair that is suitable for you. An appointment
to install the extensions will then be made.
- After making a decision on the look you want to
achieve, one of our stylists will then attach the
extensions to your hair. We use the individual strand
bonding method which not only keeps the hair looking
natural but ensures that your hair won't break. This
involves taking 20-50 strands of extension hair and
attaching it to your own hair. This process is painstaking
and may take several hours but the result will be
worth it!
- Finally our stylist will cut your hair into your
desired style

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. |
Do Great Lengths extensions damage your
own hair? |
A. |
The Great Lengths technologies
ensure that there is no damage to your own hair,
providing that you follow the correct after care
program as recommended by your Great Lengths technician
and you visit the hair salon for a regular maintenance
(preferably monthly). Your hair should be in the
same condition after the extensions are removed
as it was before, if not better. |
Q. |
Where does the hair come from? |
A. |
All Great Lengths hair originates
from India. Because of its same genetic origin
the basic structure of Indian hair is similar
to that of European hair. Indian women traditionally
cut off their long plait of hair either at their
wedding -as a symbol of starting their new life-
or if they want to ask a special favor or offer
thanks to a deity at a religious temple. This
collection method allows numerous benefits:
- The cuticle layer of the hair is perfectly
healthy and intact since Indian hair is of
exceptional quality and Indian woman rarely
visit hair salons for chemical treatments
of any kind.
- Weaving the hair into a plait ensures that
all the hair is aligned in one direction which
minimizes tangling.
- The hair is homogeneous in color and thickness

Q. |
How are the extensions connected to your
own hair? |
A. |
It is the bond that distinguishes
Great Lengths from all other hair extension techniques.
Great Lengths utilises a patented 'protein' bond.
The 'protein bond' is of a similar molecular composition
as that of human hair. This technology enables
the bond to withstand any condition that your
own hair can withstand. The 'protein bond' is
activated by the Great Lengths applicator that
bonds the Great Lengths hair to your own hair.
The similarities in molecular composition ensures
that there is no damage caused to your own hair,
unlike other hair extension technologies that
utilize glues, welding, waxing or knotting that
can damage your hair. |
Q. |
How long will the Great Lengths extensions
last in my hair? |
A. |
We recommend that three months
after the initial installation you visit your
Great Lengths approved salon for regular maintenance
appointments every 4 - 6 weeks. During these maintenance
appointments it may be necessary to remove bonds
that have become untidy and replace them with
new extensions. This is dependant on the individual
and will vary according to one's natural hair
growth. |
Q. |
I am losing my hair. Should I use Great
Lengths hair extensions? |
A. |
This would depend on the
reason for the hair loss. Great Lengths is ideal
for adding volume to naturally thinning hair.
We do not recommend hair extensions for hair loss
due to illness. |
Q. |
Can I use chemical products on the Great
Lengths hair extensions? |
A. |
Chemical services can be
applied by an approved Great Lengths technician
only as they are trained to use the correct products
and procedures that will maintain the integrity
of the 'protein bond'. |
Q. |
Do the extensions pull your hair out? |
A. |
Great Lengths hair extensions
do not add sufficient weight to your own hair
to cause the hair to be pulled out. |
Q. |
How much will it cost me? |
A. |
With Great Lengths hair extensions
you can achieve so many different looks varying
from lengthening, volumizing to just adding funky
colors. Discuss the various options with the closest
Great Lengths approved salon. This consultation
is free of charge. The price will vary according
to the length of the extensions and the number
of extensions you need to achieve your desired
look. |
Q. |
How do you take the Great Lengths extensions
out? |
A. |
A Great Lengths technician
can easily remove the extensions from your own
hair, without causing any damage to your own hair,
by using a Great Lengths removal solution. |
Q. |
Can I reuse the extensions? |
A. |
Great Lengths hair extensions
are not reusable due to the destruction of the
'protein bonds' during the removal process. |
How do I care for my extensions?
Caring for hair extensions is a bit different from
caring for natural hair.
- Use a soft bristle brush and brush your hair from
the bottom and gently work your way up.
- Gently tie your hair up while sleeping.
- Do not colour your own hair extensions at home.
Don't spray your extensions with conditioners or any
silicone based products as they can cause the braids
to slip.
Can I wear my hair up?
Of course, below the the hair extensions on the base
of your scalp there is usually 2-3cm of hair and this
overs the extensions while you wear it in pigtails,
ponytails etc.
How do I get them out?
Come back into the salon and our stylist will take
them out. If you have synthetic locks, the area that
is bonded will be heated up slightly which will loosen
the glue's hold on the hair. With natural extensions
a special solvent is applied to the connection which
helps to release the bond. It's a simple process if
done by professionals. |
